Barbara Baker

Barbara joined the team at baldry + sanford in 2006 when Paulette and Clinton were invited to take over her current employer’s Grant Venell Ltd business. 

She moved from the U.K. to New Zealand with her family when she was a child. She remembers flying on a DC-10 and how long it took to get the other side of the world. Living down under meant no more holiday trips across the English channel and into Europe, but her family happily settled in Auckland and took in all the opportunities this great country has to offer.

Barbara graduated from Auckland Institute of Technology (now A.U.T.) with a National Diploma in Accounting in 1993, and is going on to become a full member of NZ Institute of Chartered Accountants. She works in the taxation, financial reporting and business advice. Her meticulous work ethic and attention to detail has long benefited our clients.

She really gets to know her clients and their business and has a knack for planning success. Her diligent manner and quick wit make her the kind of person you like know and work with.

Barbara and her husband Tom have been together for 30 years and lived on the Hibiscus Coast for 20 of those. The Gulf Harbour marina provided a business opportunity for them as well as pleasure. Currently they own Firewatch New Zealand Ltd, a portable fire equipment company. 

They have a love for all things Nautical and have been involved in Gulf Harbour Yacht Club Inc. since its inception, currently owning a Lotus 10.6m yacht, which leaves the harbour at every chance.  In the past they also enjoyed scuba diving around the various reefs of the North Island and racing Hobie Cats.  More recently they have joined Whangaparaoa Golf Club.  Barbara enjoys sailing, golf, gardening and reading (when time permits). Her other and most time consuming hobby is being “staff” to Sam & Coco, her two very spoilt Burmese cats.
